And after our very special Christmas in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, we have done just that. We drove through what we named ‘little Cuba’ and ended our day in the Most southern Wall Mart in the US. It was more like being in an international open market. The people were every shade of color, and the cacophony of languages, remarkable. I noticed most were complete families. Mother, father and several little ones. The choices of food and produce reflected the variety of people. We passed the tripe and organ meat, but new and different fruits and vegetables. We drove through a huge farming area in south Florida. I love to explore what is being produced, and how it grows. (that’s the farm girl in me)
At the half way point we will be putting down down a few 30 day stays. The first is south of Miami, and the next will be on the gulf side of Florida, near St. Petersburg. Shopping does not usually come to the top of my list of activities, but I spied a Bloomingdale’s Dept. Store as we drove along high way 1. It is now on my must see list. I did get to visit Dillards, last year in Tucson. So, Bloomingdales this year it is. I can only hope that there will be a picture of me entering through the doors on the blog.
These RV parks are more like resorts, with lots of activities, a hugh pool, and hot tub, exercise programs, and movie nights. We will rest, explore and take out the lawn chairs to just stop and soak up some sunshine. It is time to reflect on the many wonderful days we have had.
These last months of travel have enriched my life 10 fold. I have had the blessing of visiting old and dear friends and meeting new relatives that came with our recent marriage. On the top of that list is a another darling sister in law, to include all of her family. Sisters are special. This trip has also given us the time to really know each other by the constant togetherness. We count our blessings to have each other in these last years of our lives. We cherish each other, and this has made a dream come true for both of us. Richard often says, at the end of the day, “this is good”. …and so we continue our travel journey, as well as our life journey, with full and grateful hearts. Just checking in with all of you….. Judy
Day 130 Friday December 30 Happy Birthday to Richard
We slept in late after getting back late last night. After breakfast we went grocery shopping to replenish our larder. We goofed off the rest of the day.

Day 131 Saturday December 31
We did laundry today. Had a nice roasted chicken for dinner. Stayed up late and drank champagne to usher in the new year. We did not make it until midnight.
Day 132 Sunday January 1 Happy New Year
We slept in after having stayed up late last night. We made arrangements for a place to stay just South of Miami. It is close to the clinic Judy will be going to see about her back pain. We had fish for dinner. Spent the evening reading.
Day 133 Monday January 2
Took our time getting the motorhome ready to leave. Drove South on I-95 to 826 and then highway 1. Turned West on Quail Roost Rd to 162nd and turned South for 0.5 miles. We got a spot at Miami Everglades RV park space 130. The park is very nice with lots of activities and a nice pool.

Warm today. We will be staying here for a month.Drove 60 miles today.
Day 134 Tuesday January 3
Slept in again. Yawn! I did some paperwork and made arrangements for a month stay near Tampa for the month of February. The temperature got down to 47 this morning and never got above 55 today. Suppose to get down to near freezing tonight. Burr. Are we in Florida? Judy and I walk to the club house to use the internet and see if anyone was doing crafts. No crafts but they were having a feed. Cold walk and we had to wear our woolies. Had a nice dinner.
Day 135 Wednesday January 4
We drove to the clinic where Judy will have here appointment next week. Wanted to know the best route and the time it takes. On the way we drove through the area of Miami called “Little Havana” where most of the business signs were in Spanish. We then went to a Wal-Mart to get my prescriptions filled and to a Winn-Dixie to get some groceries. Stir fry for dinner.

Day 136 Thursday January 5
Judy and I goofed off most of the day. At 4 pm we went to a talk by a local chiropractor who also practices kinesiology. This is similar to what Judy’s daughter Molly is studying Judy is planning to see him on Friday. He will check her out to see if muscular-nerve interactions around her spine and joints are responsible for her pain. We had steak for dinner. Yumm.
Day 137 Friday January 6
Judy and I went to the chiropractor for a visit. Afterwards when we went for a walk she did not have the sharp severe pain she normally had. Talked to some ladies doing beading. There was a man there who has been doing “missionary” work in Ghana for many years. He told us many interesting stories from his visits there. He and his wife have done a lot of good for the people there and the people are eager to have them come back.. Nice to know there are people like them in this world.
Day 137 Saturday January 7
Judy and I went to the chiropractor again. Then, we drove to the Miccosukee Indian reservation at the edge of the Everglades nation park and their village.
They had a little museum, pits with alligators, area for members to show their crafts, a boardwalk into the everglades and an alligator show. In the show, a man puts his hand in a alligator’s mouth as well as “hog tying“ it..

Afterwards we went to the Shark Valley of the Everglades national park. Lots of people there. There is a 15 mile bike, walking and tram trail along a canal and barrow pits. We ate lunch there and went for a walk but not all around. There were lots of alligators along the path, many birds, and butterflies.

On the way home, we got a call that my prescriptions were ready at Wal-Mart. Got there and one was on back order. Paid for one and now have to look for a different supply. We cooked a whole chicken for dinner with mananja root for dinner.Day 138 Sunday January 8
I spent part of the morning trying to get one of my medicines. Tried lots of places and could not find it. The pharmacy warehouses did not have it either. Finally resorted to the mail part of the drug insurance. Judy and I then sat out on the club house deck and listened to about 10 people playing guitars and other instruments. Enjoyable.
Day 139 Monday January 9
We went to the chiropractor this morning. On the way back home we stopped at Nordstrom’s Rack. After that we went to the Knaus Berry Farm, which is a local favorite for fresh fruit and vegetables as well as shakes and ice cream.
At home, we talked with our neighbors for a while.Day 140 Tuesday January 10
Today we went to Biscayne Bay National Park. What a nice place. Judy and I rented a canoe and traveled around in and out of inlets looking for manatees and other critters. No manatees but lots of birds. There were lots of fish jumping too.

Temperature was about 77 degrees with a slight breeze. Very fun day.
