Day 220 Wednesday March 21
Well we had about 2 inches of rain overnight and strong winds still continuing in the morning. We decided to stay another day instead of fighting the wind and rain. There are lots of wild flowers blooming.

The blue bonnets are blooming in large patches along with other flowers.
Day 221 Thursday March 22
We left Frog Pond RV park and headed west on I-10. It was sunny with light winds and dry roads. We drove to the outskirts of Houston, exit 787 to spend the night. Stayed at Houston Horizon RV park, space 21.
Drove 185 miles.
Day 222 Friday March 23
We left Houston RV park and continued West on I-10 with lovely weather, sunny and very little wind. We arrived in San Antonio and went to the Dixie RV park off exit 580 taking spot A11. Judy was happy because there are cardinals here to watch. I still have some of the crud. We plan to go to the River Walk with old Shelton friend, Mary Ellen, who moved here a few months ago to be close to her sister.
Drove 210 miles today.
Day 223 Saturday March 24
After getting up and still not feeling really well we decided I should go to see a doctor about my more than a week problem. We drove to the North side of San Antonio to a clinic. He gave me some medicine. I went back home and rested the rest of the day.
Day 224 Sunday March 25
We decided to drove across San Antonio to a RV park on the Northeast side of town. We took spot 150 at the Alamo Fiesta RV resort just of I-10. After lunch we went for a drive through the closest town Boerne and up and down through the hills. Lots of oaks and lots of big ranches and blue bonnet flowers.
Stopped in town and looked at some antique stores. Got Judy a Fenton glass vase for her collection, a color she did not have. We had some local homemade ice cream. I am feeling somewhat better. Still have not gotten in touch with friend Mary Ellen since we arrived in the area.Drove 36 miles.
Day 225 Monday March 26
Today we went into San Antonio and visited the Alamo. The old mission, a sacred shrine for Texas independence, is situated amongst all the high rises building. It is hard to believe the 125 men held out for 13 days against many thousands of Mexican soldiers.
We then walked down to the river walk in down town San Antonio.
We walked the loop and then had lunch.
It is a very fun and impressive place they have created. We enjoyed seeing the sites and watching the people. There was a nice breeze so it felt very comfortable. On the way back home we stopped at a rock shop which sells patio and building stones. They had very pretty stuff. Day 226 Tuesday March 27
We went rock hounding today looking for “chocolate agate” Southwest of San Antonio. It was misty rain for most of the morning. We found the spot we were looking for and found some rocks.

It appears the rocks are not agate but chert. We continued driving stopping beside the Medina river for lunch. Found some rocks there too.
We went to the Medina Lake reservoir which was way down because of the drought.
With everything nice and green and the wild flowers, it does not seem like a drought. We found some chert along the lake similar to the earlier rocks. Fun day finding rocks and sightseeing the back country around San Antonio.

Day 227 Wednesday March 28
We left San Antonio and headed West on I-10. As we headed West, the trees and bushes got smaller and the flowers too. It has been very dry here. Spent the night at Fort Stockton RV park taking space 50. It got up to 85 degrees today. The drive was very nice with good roads, little traffic, and hardly any wind.
Drove 280 miles.
Day 228 Thursday March 29
We left Fort Stockton and continued West on I-10. We arrived in El Paso, Texas taking exit 35 and going to Mission RV park, space E5. We went for a drive East of Horizon City to look at some property I bought in my naive days. It is up against the mountains and pretty but far from ever being developed.
After dinner we did the mission tour visiting three missions. One, the Ysleta Mission was built in 1692,
not sure of the date on the other two, Soccoro
and San Eliazario,
but about the same time. Hot today, in the mid-80’s.Day 229 Friday March 30
When we started to leave this morning the slide out was being stubborn about going in and has been getting worse over time. We went to Camping World and then said the teflon slide support was warn out on one side and needs to be replaced. Well, we will be waiting until Tuesday to have it done as the part needs to be ordered. We drove to El Paso West RV Park which is just over the border in New Mexico. Took spot A 10.
Drove 38 miles.
Day 230 Saturday March 31
We went rock hounding today. We drove North on I-10 to I-25 and Las Cruses, NM to exit 35 and the small town of Rincon. On the East side of the freeway about a mile it a road that leads up to communication towers. There was jasper on the hill but very picked over as it is an easy place to get to.
Across the road was an outcrop of fossil coral. We only got a few pieces and nothing very special. We ate our lunch in the town of Rincon. After lunch we went back close to the same area to a quarry.
We found barite crystals by breaking apart seams in the rhyolite. It was about 88 degrees and very hot so we did not stay there too long but got a couple of nice samples. Judy made super duper omelets for dinner. Yumm.Day 231 Sunday April 1
Another medicine saga. I went to the local Wal-Mart to get my prescriptions filled. Well one of the two they said was already filled. Long story short, the mail order company had shipped out my medicine to Florida where I had asked it to be shipped one time only and not to ship any more. Well they did anyway. So after an hour on the phone, they will be sending me more at the RV park I am now at. Supposedly overnight, getting it Tuesday morning. We cleaned out Goldie as she was getting very dirty inside. Did the laundry too. Busy day for us but frustrating day for me.
