We had to move the motor home since the spot we were in had been reserved for someone else. So we packed up and went about 4 miles down the road, highway 17 South to Lake Aire RV park. Lake Aire is a good name because the lake is dry. Ha Ha. After setting up and eating lunch we went to the North side of Charleston to the F. Marian National Forest and to what is called the I’on Nature trail. We drove over the cable suspension bridge in Charleston to get there which was fun.
The trail is through the woods on dikes which in the 1830’s had enclosed rice fields. You can still see the dikes, the water courses and the flat land now covered with cypress trees, palmetto, etc. Judy went the whole two and one half miles.

We saw a few birds, one turtle and no other wild life. Well, a few mosquitoes. Funny tree in that it look like it had been twisted around about three times. The temperature was in the low 70’s and it was fun to walk through the dry leaves.Day 95 Thursday November 24 Happy Thanksgiving

This morning was clean up time for the motorhome. We vacuumed, cleaned the floor, etc. in preparation of Thanksgiving dinner. And a wonderful dinner we had. Turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, fruit salad, green beans and wine and water. Yummy. Later we had pumpkin pie. Very nice day and thankful for all the wonderful things in our lives together.

Day 96 Friday November 25
We went to a fabric store to get some buttons for a project Judy is working on. Went to a hardware store to get some acetone for a rock project I am doing. Also bought some raw peanuts and I am boiling them in salt water. Can’t wait to eat some. After lunch of turkey sandwiches (yummmmmm) we drove to Edisto Island and the Atlantic ocean beach. Very pretty drive through tree covered with spanish moss and across saltwater marshes. We walked on the beach for a while and found some more shells.

Day 97 Saturday November 26
We went to Caw Caw Interpretation Center which is a state park with many walks through what used to be rice fields. Judy and I went on a 1.2 mile walk through woods and dried up yearly flooded areas. No critters except squirrels. Back at the center we ate lunch. I went on another 1.1 mile hike out into the swamps and canals. Saw two alligators,

great blue herons, grebes and an anhinga drying its wings.
We left there and went to a tea plantation. Charleston Tea Plantation labels itself as the only tea plantation in the US. The plants were brought here from China in the early 1800’s. They showed how they processed the tea. The place was in a very pretty setting with old live oak trees with spanish moss hanging all over.

Day 98 Sunday November 27 Happy First Anniversary to Us
Judy and I went to Folly Beach for our anniversary dinner.
It was very nice. You do not need to know about the rest of the day.Day 99 Monday November 28
We left Charleston and headed South on 17 until it ran into I-95. We took I-95 South to exit 94 in Georgia and headed East on 204 then Spur 204 to Skidaway Island State Park taking space 50. The park is a few miles Southeast of Savannah. Nice park with very big spaces. Rain showers about dinner time. As we were coming off the freeway and close to the park, the steering seemed a little harder and will need to check it out.
Drove 120 miles
Day 100 Tuesday November 29
Had a leisurely morning. I check the fluid in the steering gear reservoir and it was almost to the add mark. Searched around and found someone who had AW 32 hydraulic oil in other than a 5 gallon amount. Filled up the reservoir and then started the motor. The steering seemed better but will need a real street test drive.
Cold and rainy most of the afternoon so we just vegetated most of the day. About 4 pm we went for a mile round trip walk to an observation tower which overlooks the marsh and waterway. No critters to be seen except squirrels.

Day 101 Wednesday November 30
We decided to take the motor home for a test drive . Unhooked from the services and drove around the camp to the sewage dump. On the way I got a little too close to a tree and it ripped off the back awning bracket, essentially totaling the awning.. Ugghhhh!!!!. Had to take the loose bracket off so we could drive. Dumped the sewage and found a different site, an easier one to get out of. Called a RV place to see about taking the whole awning off. A very nice man came out to the park within the hour and helped me take the awning off. After packing up the pieces on his trailer, he would not accept any money for his services. There are still nice people in this world.
Day 102 Thursday December 1
Today we went into old Savannah. We took a bus tour through the old section and it was very well done. It is the off season here and we had I think only 10 people on our bus. There were not many tourists walking the streets either. At the end of the tour we went to City Market and had a small lunch.
Then we went to the waterfront area where the old cotton warehouses have been make into shops and offices.
Judy sang a song with a couple of black guys which was really cool. We took a drive to a truck stop to check on getting the motorhome tires inflated as the pressure is down just a little.Day 103 Friday December 2
Left Skidaway State Park and took hwy Spur 204 to 204 onto I-95 South. We took exit 90 to Love’s and got some diesel and a nice man checked the tires for me. In Florida we took exit 380 to highway 17 and went a short distance to Osprey Florida’s First RV Park as it is called. Interestingly, the owner worked at Container Corp. on Amelia Island and his father retired from Rayonier’s Fernandina pulp mill.
Drove 116 miles today.
